The Campingaz Othello 1 CV is a compact, single burner gas plancha that runs on a screw-on cartridge rather than a bottle. It comes fully assembled with the hose, regulator and ignition batteries, so you can take it from the box to a campsite, a picnic or a balcony table. Simplicity and low weight are what it offers.

Our take
Burner, plate and cartridge
One Blue Flame steel burner gives 2.8 kW. The plate is enamelled steel and measures 30 x 45 cm, which is enough for breakfast for two to four or a batch of prawns. Campingaz quotes gas use of 204 g an hour.
It runs on a Campingaz CV 470 Plus cartridge, which is not included. A single cartridge is small, so pack a spare for longer cooks.
Cleaning and grease
The maker describes an improved cleaning system with a smart grease funnel and a drain at the back. Raised edges around the plate reduce splashing and help you push food around without it sliding off. Enamelled steel wipes clean more easily than bare metal.
Weight and size
The Othello measures 66 x 39 x 20 cm and weighs 10.5 kg. It is the lightest unit in our plancha guide. Electronic ignition with batteries in the box means no matches needed. The specification lists adjustable height among its features.
With a single burner, though, the whole plate is one heat zone. You can still move food towards the cooler edges, but there is no way to run one side hot and the other low.
Against the Onlyfire and Happy Garden
The Onlyfire 2-burner tabletop plancha gives two zones, 4.7 kW and a lid, at 17.9 kg. The Happy Garden 3 burner plancha offers three zones and a larger 62 x 35.5 cm surface at 11 kg, but needs a separate hose and regulator. The Othello is the one that is ready to go straight out of the box.
For a balcony, the cartridge format has another advantage: there is no gas bottle to store between uses. Check your building's rules on gas appliances first, as some flats and rented properties restrict them on balconies regardless of the fuel size.
Verdict
The Othello 1 CV is ideal for camping, picnics and small balconies where light weight and a cartridge supply matter most. If you cook for more than four or want two heat zones, the Onlyfire 2-burner tabletop plancha or the Happy Garden 3 burner plancha will serve you better.
