The Weber Q 1100N is a compact gas barbecue light enough to carry with one hand to a campsite, a boat or a balcony, yet with a grate big enough for nine burgers. It is for couples and small families who want a reliable portable grill. Its standout combination is the 9.1 kg weight with full porcelain-enamelled cast iron grates, which many lightweight grills give up.

Our take

Burner, grates and ignition

Weber lists a high-efficiency burner rated at 2.93 kW, which it says provides steady, high heat for searing. The cooking surface is 1,290 cm² of porcelain-enamelled cast iron, enough for nine burgers at once according to the listing. Cast iron holds heat well, so the grate recovers quickly between batches.

Ignition is electronic push-button: one press lights the burner, so you are not hunting for matches in the wind.

Smart hub option

The Q 1100N comes pre-fitted for the Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub, sold separately. With the hub fitted, Weber says you get guided grilling and remote temperature tracking on your phone. It is an optional upgrade, not something you need to cook well. For most camping trips the lid thermometer is enough, but the hub could appeal if you also use the grill at home for thicker cuts.

Living with it

At 44 x 66 x 38 cm, the grill packs into a car boot alongside camping gear. There is no stand in this listing, so you will need a camp table or wall that can take the heat. A built-in thermometer and a removable grease tray are listed among the features.

The listing does not say which gas cartridge or hose is supplied in the UK, so check before heading off. Assembly is required. Weber states five years of EU spare parts availability.

Q 1100N or a neighbour?

The Weber Q 1200N shares the burner and grate area but adds side tables and a high-dome lid, at 17 kg. The Weber Go-Anywhere Gas is lighter still at 5.22 kg, with 2.1 kW and folding legs that lock the lid. The Weber Traveler offers a 63 x 34 cm grill on a folding trolley at 21.1 kg.

Verdict

The Q 1100N is the pick for anyone who wants a full-size Q grate in the lightest Q body, for camping and small spaces. If you want prep space attached and more room under the lid for roasts, take the Weber Q 1200N, and if every kilo counts, the Weber Go-Anywhere Gas is smaller and lighter.
