The Woodfire Pro Connect XL is Ninja's larger outdoor electric grill, aimed at households that want wood-smoke flavour and less guesswork. It adds two things the original Woodfire lacks: a built-in digital probe that monitors food as it cooks, and app control from your phone. Combined with a bigger cooking area, that makes it the more hands-off option for family cooking.

Our take
App and probe in practice
Through the app you can set cook level, time and temperature, follow progress and receive notifications. The Smart Cook System uses the included digital probe to tell you when meat or fish is done, so you are not cutting into a chicken to check.
For long smoking sessions, that means you can leave the grill to do its work and keep an eye on it from indoors.
Functions and capacity
Ninja lists seven functions: BBQ grill, smoker, air fry, roast, bake, dehydrate and reheat. Capacity is given as 10 burgers, six steaks or two 3 kg chickens. The listing does not give the grill plate size in centimetres, so those food counts are the best guide.
Smoke comes from an integrated box that burns 100 percent real wood pellets, either low and slow or as a quick flavour boost.
Box contents, weather and weight
In the box: the grill with UK plug, the digital probe, smoke box, crisper basket, grill plate, grease tray and liner, two pellet starter packs and a scoop. The grill is rated IPX4 for water resistance.
Weight is around 18 kg, about half as much again as the OG701UK. Wattage is not stated in the listing. Pellet smoke is still smoke, so check your building or tenancy rules for balcony use.
How it compares
The Ninja Woodfire OG701UK has the same seven functions and pellet system at 12 kg, with capacity for eight burgers but no probe or app. The Weber Lumin is a high-heat electric grill without pellet smoke, offering a clearly stated 33 x 49 cm grate. The EliteFyre Volteq 6-in-1 also combines digital control and pellets on a 1,700 cm² grate.
Verdict
Go for the Pro Connect XL if you cook for four or more, want smoke flavour and like the idea of a probe and app watching the food for you. If you cook for fewer people or need something lighter, the Ninja Woodfire OG701UK does most of the same jobs, and the Weber Lumin is better if you want pure searing heat.
