Our take
Griddle plate and burners
The plate is iron with a ceramic non-stick coating, measuring 17.9 x 14.5 inches, or about 45.5 x 36.8 cm, for 259 square inches. Onlyfire says the coating releases food easily and helps clean-up, while the iron underneath holds heat.
Two parallel stainless steel burners give 4.7 kW in total and can be run separately. Use both for a full plate of food, or one alone for a quick fry-up.
The thermometer on the lid gives a rough idea of the air temperature inside, not the surface heat of the plate itself. For searing, a few drops of water flicked onto the griddle remain the quickest way to judge whether the surface is ready for meat.
Built to travel
The lid locks shut, the legs fold under and a handle lets you carry it. Folded, it measures about 52.7 x 35 x 37.5 cm and weighs 17.9 kg, so it fits in a car boot with room to spare. The body is stainless steel, and a removable grease collector catches fat.
A lid on a griddle is useful for melting cheese on burgers or steaming vegetables with a splash of water, and it keeps rain off between uses.
