The London Sunshine 13 inch is a tabletop ceramic kamado with the features of a bigger egg packed into a small body. It suits couples, balcony owners and anyone who wants to try kamado cooking before committing to a full-size grill. What sets it apart from other small models is the detail in the listing: gasket, vents, thermometer and grates are all named.

Our take
What comes inside
London Sunshine lists a premium glass fibre gasket, a thermometer, a cast iron top vent, a stainless steel bottom vent, an inner fire bowl, a cast iron charcoal grate and an 11 inch stainless steel cooking grate. That is everything you need to control a charcoal fire properly, which is not a given on budget minis.
The ceramic wall is 0.8 inches thick, about 20 mm, and the maker gives a cooking range of 82 to 399 °C.
Setting it up
The body and lid come already assembled. You fit two bamboo handles and build the steel stand, then place the egg on top. The whole unit is about 40.6 x 35.6 x 55.9 cm.
At 22.6 kg it is portable in the sense that you can lift it into a car, but not something to carry far. The maker is clear that it must not be moved while hot.
Cooking on an 11 inch grate
An 11 inch grate, about 28 cm, holds two steaks, a spatchcocked poussin or a small pork tenderloin. It will not take a full rack of ribs flat. For two people, that is plenty, and a small charcoal load reaches temperature quickly.
The specification gives the cooking area as 90 square inches.
Versus the DAHAD and AUPLEX
The DAHAD 13 inch ceramic kamado offers a slightly larger 32 cm tray and a built-in thermometer, but it weighs 31.5 kg and its listing says little about vents or a gasket. The AUPLEX 12 inch is far lighter at 7.5 kg with folding legs, but lists almost nothing about how the fire is controlled. The London Sunshine is the best documented of the three.
Verdict
Buy the London Sunshine 13 inch if you cook for one or two and want a small kamado with a proper gasket and vents. If you need more grate space, step up to the London Sunshine 15 inch, and if weight is the main concern for trips, the AUPLEX 12 inch or Char-Griller Akorn Jr are lighter.
