Our take

Digital control and iGrill

Instead of a simple low to high dial, the Pulse uses a digital controller that Weber says gives precise control of grill temperature. The specs list five power levels. The listing title quotes temperatures over 300°C, enough for searing.

Built-in iGrill technology means it works with Weber iGrill thermometers, sold separately, so you can follow the temperature through an app. If you already own one, that is a neat bonus; if not, factor it in.

Grate and cooking area

The cooking grate is porcelain-enamelled cast iron, which Weber says spreads heat well and is easy to clean. The surface is 41 x 31 cm, given as 1,271 cm². That suits two to four people. Larger family meals will mean cooking in batches.

A removable grease drip tray catches fat beneath the grate. Lifting it out after each cook and wiping the grate while it is still warm keeps the enamel in good order and stops old fat smoking next time.

Weight, power and placement

The Pulse 1000 draws 1,800 W, less than either Lumin model. It is also heavy for a tabletop grill: 19.9 kg, at roughly 54 x 61 x 33 cm. That weight is reassuring once it is on a solid table, but it is not a grill you will want to move in and out of a cupboard after every cook.

No assembly is required, and Weber states a five-year EU spare part availability period.

Pulse or Lumin?

The Weber Lumin offers 2,300 W, over 315°C and a larger 33 x 49 cm grate with a plancha insert, at 16.6 kg. The Weber Lumin Compact is lighter at 11.8 kg with 2,200 W. Both lack the digital controller and iGrill link that define the Pulse. The EliteFyre Volteq 6-in-1 also has digital temperature control, plus a larger grate and a smoker box.

Verdict

The Pulse 1000 suits cooks who want a set-and-hold electric grill and like the idea of app monitoring through iGrill. If you want more power and a bigger grate, the Weber Lumin is the stronger choice, and anyone who needs to lift the grill regularly will find the Lumin Compact far easier to handle.
